Panasonic Braun Series 7 & 9 – Complete Reviews & Rating

Braun Series 7 & 9

Gentleman, when it comes to grooming, an electric shaver is one of the most important tools that you can own! Whether you’re a mountain man, who goes all natural most of the time, or you like a daily, clean shaven look, there is an electric shaver out there that is perfect for you.

If you are not brand loyal, and simply buy whatever is on sale, or even if you are doing research to get the best bang for your buck, this  list of the top 5 electric shavers will help you find what you want.

It is very important to invest in the right electric shaver. There are a lot of over priced products that underperform.

Nobody wants to pay more money than they have to! Cheap shavers can lead to skin irritation and may not last nearly as long as others.

Before we get to the list, let’s take a look at the benefits using of electric shavers. Number one, faster shaving. We’ve all been there. When you’re running late for work and realize…you forgot to shave! With an electric shaver, all you have to do is turn it on and go! You can be running out the door while shaving. You can even shave on the go with a cordless model.

Electric shavers a fast and effective. While electric shavers cost more up front than traditional razors, you will save money in the long run, as you’re not constantly buying razors, shaving creams and soaps.

Using electric shavers cuts down on knicks, cuts, and ingrown hairs. There is less of a learning curve with the electric shave than there is with the original razor. You can also control your stubble and get up close and personal!

Another option to take into consideration when buying an electric shaver is whether you want foil or rotary. Rotary shavers were introduced first. They provide a comfortable shaving experience and shaving head. They may be more comfortable, but they don’t provide as close of a shave as foil. Foil shavers are experts in closeness, containing sharp blades and advanced technology.

There are so many models on the market, it may be difficult to differentiate between them all. What may suite one person, may not be a great option for another. Hopefully this list can narrow it down for you!

Our 1st Choice: Braun Series 7 790cc

Let’s start out with the best of the best, shall we? This is the most popular model made by Braun. It’s been around since 2010.

It is also the most sold electric shaver of all time.

The Braun Series 7 is an electric shaver that comes with a cleaning center. Your partner will thank you when they do not have to clean up the mess left behind from your old shaver!

This electric foil shaver is cordless. It comes with an alcohol based charging station that dries the shaver, too.

Braun is a well known brand. If you don’t mind spending a little bit more money, this is a great option for you! With a price tag of $169-$220, it falls on the top end of shavers. You won’t be disappointed with a little splurge!

To sum it up, you may spend a little more money out of your pocket, but you will save time in the bathroom, as it has four synchronized shaving elements, doing the work in twice the time as it’s competitors. With 5 different modes to choose from, between turbo and sensitive, you are guaranteed to get the shave you need.

Our 2nd Choice: Braun Series 7 740S, Wet and Dry Edition

Do you prefer a wet or a dry shave? Everyone has their preference. Wouldn’t it be great to have one gadget that could do both? Why clutter up your bathroom, or suitcase with 2 different shavers, when you can have one that does the job of two!

The Braun Series 7 740S comes with aquatic technology. its tag price is very reasonable. Therefore,it  is still considered a top of the line shaver. It’s not the most expensive product out there; however you are getting a high quality shaver. This one may meet all of your needs!

The ads for this shaver leave out some great information. When looking at reviews, this product also comes with a cleaning and charging station that will dry the shaver when finished. Bonus! If you’re looking for a top of the line shaver, but don’t want to spend over $200, this is a great option for you!

  • Cordless
  • Shave head moves in 8 different directions, ensuring a perfect shave.

Our 3rd Choice: Braun 7893s Wet & Dry Electric Foil Shaver

This is a  budget friendly shaver, that offers options and won’t break the bank. The Braun 7893 series is a wet and dry shaver, offering flexibility to meet your needs.  The pivoting head traces and contours the face, leaving a clean shave. This shaver comes in below $75, including accessories.

This is a great option for an inexpensive, small, lightweight travel shaver. This is perfect for a quick comfortable shave.  You may end up spending more in the long run, as it isn’t as durable and may need to be fixed or replaced more frequently that it’s competitors.

Pros
  • Affordable
  • Wet and dry shave options available
  • Cordless
  • LCD display
  • Foil shaver
  • Pop up trimmer
  • 1 hour charge time
Cons
  • Possibility problems with the LCD display screen
  • Not as close of a shave as other foil shavers
  • Not as durable

Our 4th Choice: Braun Electric Shaver, Series 9 9290cc

This is not so affordable shaver when compared to the low hand shavers on the market. It offers interceptor shaving technology. The Braun 9290 series is rechargeable, pivot and flex foil shaver.  You can pick one of these up today for very reasonable price. With its world wide voltage, this is a great shaver for the world traveler! This series is one of Remington’s high-end shavers in its product line.

Bottom line; if you have a thick, full beard, this probably isn’t the shaver for you. If you don’t like to constantly re-charge, and need something that will last between shaves, this has a strong battery life that would be a good option for you.

Pros
  • Budget friendly
  • Lightweight
  • Can be used with or without cord
  • 5 minute quick charge
  • Can run 20 days between full charges
  • Minimizes pressure and irritation
Cons
  • Easily damaged
  • Not as durable as competitors
  • Made of cheap plastic
  • Not many options compared to dry/wet shavers in one
  • For thin beard growth only
  • Some reviews report hair pulling and irritation
  • Noisy
  • Parts replacement required after 4-6 months of use

Our 5th Choice: Braun Series 9 9293s

Philips makes the top 5 list again, with another great product. The Braun 9293 is an affordable, entry-level, rotary model that delivers a clean shave and is one of the better shavers braun came up with. The braun series 9 in general and 9293 specificlly seems to come in at the top of it’s class for quality and price.

Overall, the 9293 model seems to be a decent product, for what you pay. Unlike the more expensive models that come with a cleaning station, you will be rinsing in the sink, leaving a mess. If you have a full thick beard, the motor on the 2100 may not be powerful enough to get the job done. This is most likely a great product for beginner shavers.

Pros
  • Self sharpening blades for a close, dry shave
  • Heads flex in 4 directions, contouring the curve of your face
  • One touch button to open and rinse under the faucet
  • Lithium-ion power giving you consistent power year after year
  • Cordless
  • 40 minutes of shave time between charges
  • Pop up trimmer
Cons
  • Long charge time-8 hours
  • Weak motor compared to high end competitors
  • Does not run while the cord is plugged in
  • High cost for replacement blades

Final Choice: Braun Series 9 9093s

This Braun is at the top of the market, above the 9093 series, meaning you are going to pay even more for this one. If looks are important to you, this guy comes in a shiny silver plated material. The 9093 series offers the 4 shaving elements, like the 7790 series, and also a pop up shaver.

This model captures about 10,000 more hairs per minute than it’s 7790 series competitor. The 9093 model moves in 10 directions vs 8. It also offers a contour flex head, unlike the 7790.

They each hold a 50 minute run time. One of the biggest differences is the 9093 is made of all plastic, leaving it a bit less durable. The price difference is not significant. Depending on your specific needs, this may or may not be the best option for you.

Now that you’ve learned about the top 6 braun series 7 and braun series 9, here are a few that did not make the list, just in case you still haven’t found what you’re looking for.

Rotary style electric shavers do not offer as close of a shave as foil shavers. One option to consider is whether you want cordless or corded. Cordless shavers don’t tie you to one spot, and you’ll always be able to shave in a power outage, however, corded shavers never leave you without a charge.

Wet or dry is another big decision. Many women’s shavers are both. Not all are fully submersible. Make sure to check the warning labels before you take your shaver into the bathtub with you.

The last option to consider is the area in which you will be shaving. Women’s shavers are mostly designed for specific body areas; legs, armpits, or bikini area. Make sure you choose the right shaver for the area in which you are wanting to use it. Many do offer a pop up trimmer made for the delicate areas such as the armpits and bikini area.

Some top features in women’s shavers include the “battery low” light. This lets you know when you need to charge your shaver. Another great feature, offered by many is the “battery full” light. This notifies you when your shaver is fully charged, preventing damage to the battery.

Before we take a look at the top electric shavers for ladies, please take caution in moisturizing before shaving! Never moisturize or use oil before shaving. It will clog your shaver! Men, this goes for you, too!

Ruben - Shaver Team

My Name is Ruben Cahn. Every morning I used to cut myself shaving with a straight razor. Many razors promise a close cut shave but fail to deliver. I stumbled upon electric shavers. However, many of them caused skin burns. I decided to educate myself about my next electric shaver. In the process I became electric shaver fanatic. Hope you will enjoy my electric shavers and electric razors reviews.
